Afternoon Rejuvination
Afternoon sessions will include a rest, reading, Spanish enrichment, food preparation, singing, art, games, caring for our plants and animals, watering the garden and harvesting our gardens.
Elementary Montessori
This camp is meant to familiarize our new elementary students to the classroom environment and routines. Introductory lessons will be given, there will be plenty of time at the playscape, and it is a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends. A hearty “Welcome Back” to our returning Elementary children whose leadership skills will be appreciated. Enrolling in both weeks is highly recommended for incoming first graders.
Explorers
When we asked our children what they wanted to do this summer, they expressed a wide variety of interests, including campfire cooking, art, fort building and Legos. During each session we will explore the group’s interests and develop camp activities based accordingly. Every session will include handcrafting, cooking, movement, music and reading in hammocks which we will hang in various outdoor wooded areas. Enrolling in both the morning and afternoon sessions are highly recommended.
Junior Counselors
Students at this age are ready to lead. They are excited to take on the world and participate in the process of planning and executing. Junior Counselors will learn skills such as first aid, safety, team-building, problem solving and leadership. They will create activity plans based on the younger student’s interests and then put them into action with the Explorers. Each week we will reflect on what we learned and celebrate each other’s successes.
Morning Montessori
Morning Montessori includes an uninterupted block of work time, mixed-age groups, our Association Montessoir Internation (AMI) certified teachers, and individually-paced Montessori lessons. Chirldren will also spend time outdoors in the natural Playscape and North Garden. This is best suited for children enrolled in a Montessori school-year program, as the lessons progressively build upon those previously mastered. We encourage new children enrolled at NSMS for fall 2021 to attend. All children must be toileting independently.
